Homemade Colloidal Silver Generator
8-12 oz jar or glass
Ultrafine silver wire
3 9v batteries
3 9v battery terminal clip snap-ons (pack of 5 available at Radio Shack for $1)
2 small alligator clips
Connect 3 battery clips in series (positive to negative, connecting red wires to black). On the 2 unconnected wire ends, attach alligator clips. Preferably, solder to hold well, but electrical tape can be used after twisting wires together. A Hulda Clark zapper can also be used to produce colloidal silver, as can a single 9V battery, although it takes longer with 9V output instead of the 27V output using 3 batteries.
Use only pure silver (99.9% or purer), not sterling. Ultrafine is defined as 99.99% or better pure. Pure silver wires are sold by some manufacturers mail order, and are easy to use and even cheaper. Sota Instruments sells 99.99% pure silver wires attached to lead wires with plugs in them for $22. The best choice is to find a jewelry finings supply. Most sell fine silver wire (99.9%) but try to find ultrafine wire (99.99%) if possible. Get as high a gauge (thickest) as possible. A foot or two are all that is needed. Silver ingots can also be used, but are not as easy to work as silver wire, which can be bent over the side of a glass and easily put in an ideal position. If they are the only option, some coin and fine jewelry shops sell them.
Put batteries on clips. Do not touch clips once the batteries are connected or they will short!
Wash jar or glass well. Rinse, then fill, with distilled water. Use only distilled water. If purchased in a plastic jug, use one with a freshness date. Bring to boil in microwave and remove. WARNING: When boiling water, especially distilled water, in a microwave, the water can "explode" when it is removed from the microwave. To prevent this, tap the side of the jar with a utensil such as a spoon a few times then let it cool for a few minutes before removing the jar. Run the wires parallel into the water, ideally about 3/4" apart, and do not let them touch each other at any time when the batteries are connected.
Once the wires are connected to power, watch for a whitish cloud to begin forming between them. First, bubbles will form on ingots and 5-10 minutes later, particles will be seen emitting from one ingot. To speed up the process a bit, can add an ounce of silver colloid from a previous batch. It is only necessary to run for an additional 10 minutes past this point to make it approximately 5ppm. To make it stronger, it may be necessary to disconnect power and pull the wires out to clean them every few minutes. Use a wet paper towel. Once they begin getting covered as soon as they are put back and connected to power, it is about as strong as it can be made with this method - 10ppm.
When done, remove wires and clean with Scotch brite pad. Pour colloid through multiple unbleached paper coffee filters. Pour into amber or brown bottles which have been cleaned and rinsed with distilled water. Store away from light and heat. Do not refrigerate.
Running 10 minutes after the process initiates makes a metallic tasting but clear colloid. Letting the process run additional time will result in some silver oxide forming and the liquid will begin to turn yellow. A light yellow color is okay, but the deeper in color it becomes, the more oxide is in the colloid, and the less effective it becomes.
This DC process colloidal silver has a short shelf life. When it starts
getting too dark, throw it away and make a new batch.
Electroherbalism.com Colloidal Silver is HVAC (12,500v). Do not attempt to make HVAC process colloidal silver unless well versed in high voltage electrical work. This product is made in 2 gallon batches using a 4-5 foot long piece of 0.9999 fine silver wire coiled in the bottom of a lidded glass jar filled with distilled water with a short piece or silver wire barely touching the water on top. It is run for three hours, cooled for three hours, then run again for three hours. Then it is filtered and dispensed into 8 oz glass bottles which are placed on a metal grounding plate and exposed to a session of a Rife-Bare plasma tube generator running general antiseptic frequencies, hence the term "Electro-Energized!"
I found the silver wire at a jewelry finings supply house. The "ultra fine" 0.9999 is usually the same thing as 0.999, it is just assayed to a higher degree to ensure purity so it is still worthwhile to pay extra. Six feet of 14 gauge (the thickest commonly available) was plenty. The transformer I use is 12,500V at 60ma. I bought it from a neon supply shop.
The 2 gallon glass jar is a cookie jar from The Container Store and has a very wide mouth which is important to keep the wires away from each other so they don't arc. A little over 4 feet is coiled in the bottom, reserving enough to come up along the side and over the lip to form a loop. The short piece is hooked over the opposite edge with a loop on the outside and on the inside the wire barely touching or almost touching the distilled water. Leads from the transformer are connected to the loops. The lid is placed back on. The lid is important to keep dust and other contaminants out during the long process. The Container Store cookie jar lid is ideal for the purpose since it has an inside lip which catches the water splashing from the short electrode as well as water which condenses from the heat and funnels it back into the jar.
Power is applied to the transformer. The water will be drawn up to the short electrode even if it is not touching the water but is only close to it. However, it is best if the wire is touching the water so it will not begin arcing if too much water is lost to evaporation. If there is any arcing from the lid to the jar or an ozone-producing corona, power is turned off and the lid and jar lip are dried and rearranged so it no longer does.
After three hours the water will be hot and so will the transformer.
Turn off and wait until both cool (about three hours), then run for an
additional three hours or until the transformer and water are very hot
again. Filter through coffee filters (although there is really no
particulate matter in AC process unlike in DC). Dispense in glass bottles
and "electro-energize" if desired.
This is the FAQ for the Colloidal Silver listserver and was written by Mike Devour, the list owner.
Greetings and welcome to the silver-list. This FAQ will give you a brief introduction to the world of Colloidal Silver and an overview by way of a few decent web sites.
First, please understand that a *lot* of what you'll find online about colloidal silver (CS) is imprecise, unscientific, and hype. There are almost no controlled studies of any kind. There is precious little objective data to back up even the most fundamental claims.
Also, there is a backlash against colloidal silver from "debunkers" who will do everything in their power to scare you away through exaggeration and fear. They dismiss *all* favorable evidence and results in apparent overreaction to the plentiful CS hype. Their claims do not hold up in the face of readily available facts.
Most of the information you receive will be anecdotal testimony, to be taken on faith or common sense until you can verify it yourself. And be forewarned, you'll find yourself rubbing shoulders with advocates of every kind of "complementary" medicine, from time honored to wildly speculative.
What persists, when all is said and done, are the compelling accounts of people who have successfully treated some very serious conditions. They are not trying to sell you anything, but only want others to be helped as they have been. It is these people that have made me want to discover the truth about colloidal silver.
A WEB OVERVIEW:
A good jumping off point is this article by Peter Lindemann which lays the groundwork and points out some of the mythology that confuses the issue:
Commercial CS Generators:
These sites are good sources of CS information and low voltage direct current CS generators:
Elixa, http://www.elixa.com Sota Instruments, http://www.sotainstruments.com/
A variety of more sophisticated high-voltage AC and DC generators are offered by:
CS Pro Systems, http://www.csprosystems.com/
Build Your Own CS Generators:
It's easy and inexpensive to build your own CS generator. Plans and instructions as well as kits and pre-wired units can be found at these individuals' web sites:
Bruce Stenulson, http://www.stenulson.net/ Bruce is one of our regular contributors and has distilled a lot of what we have learned on the list.
When you browse these sites you will inevitably find conflicting information about different products or methods. Especially, many vendors will claim their products are "unique" or "superior" or the "only safe and effective CS." Take such claims with a grain of salt!
There are also many other sites and resources. In no way do I wish to imply by the inclusion or exclusion of any site that this is the best there is. Nor do I endorse everything, or necessarily anything, you will find at these sites.
I hope that exploring these sites will give you an idea of what CS is, how it is made and used, and some of the issues that are being debated among different vendors and experimentors.
